| Why not stop the bypass at US 68? |
 | It doesn't meet the Purpose and Need as well, removing 56 percent of traffic from downtown east of US 68, but only 23 percent west of US 68, and in particular doesn't serve traffic from the east side of Wilmington destined for I-71 southbound. It also forces too much traffic to existing US 68 north of the relocated SR 73 and to the US 68/I-71 interchange, approximately 23,700 average daily traffic. Extending it to existing SR 73 evens out the traffic using US 68 and SR 73, to 15,100 and 17,500 average daily traffic respectively. |
