| CONSTRUCTION DETOUR IN EFFECT |
|
The following detour is effective immediately:
Traffic on SR 73 from Hillsboro and New Vienna will be detoured west on US 22/SR 3 then south on existing SR 73 to Airborne Road.
First of Three Construction Phases Underway
In October 2006, following an extended period of in-depth social, environmental, economic and engineering studies, as well as significant
public input, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) broke ground on the Bypass project, which will relocate State Route 73 north of
the city of Wilmington.
Once completed, the Wilmington Bypass will not only reduce congestion and truck traffic in and around the city of Wilmington but also reduce
truck traffic and noise in residential neighborhoods and keep the region competitive for economic growth.
The Bypass will be constructed as a four-lane highway in three phases. ODOT expects completion of each phase to take two construction seasons
with all construction completed by 2010.
